We've been on Wednesdays in the past but last time we went for the "Old School" discount I was denied because the discount is for Rippin' Riverside Membership holders only.  I think it may depend on who is working.  It's worth it either way.

this guy last night was checking out my Hosoi and I asked him where did you get your rails I've been looking for some? he says do you have a screw driver...I said for what? My friend has a parktool...he says take them off you can have them...I was like WOW...but quickly said no, but thank you. So he says I'll get your address before I leave and mail you a set (lives in Lakeland drove to Oviedo for a sesh) sure enough he comes over with a pen and paper at the end of the night, gets my address to send them to me, he has a bunch of rail sets....

I just thought that was really cool of him to do that and wanted to share that.

Old school guys FTW  :clap

The "chop stick" pic is my fav as well.  Nice job on them!  Did any of the pool pics turn out?

That kid in the white T, little Jonny, is a full-on ripper and a great kid.  He'll go from super style-tech street stuff to old school plants in that nasty pool and on again to kill the flow and then stop everything to help out a beginner.  Stoked to see kids like that setting the bar for others.

NJ-Brett (OSP) says you and Parks are hittin OSP this afternoon?  Have fun.  I'm booked so can't meet up - :'(

ok...try again..

What camera have you got Rick?
Can you change the ISO settings to at least 1000,that will help with the speed runs and the focus problem.

Im thinking of cleaning my Rockin Rons and heading over there soon.

We might be able to squeeze it in.  You gettin the same crew out there as last Oviedo session?
Title: Re: Old School Nights
Post by: snapperhead on February 25, 2009, 04:20:13 PM
Rick.. the flash sync only goes to f200.  So if your trying to shoot faster photo's than that, your better off just turning up the iso and not use the flash. You can play with whats called second sync flash... just read your manual . The flash fires in the last few moments of the photo, freezing the subject. You'll see some blur ( movement) but the main subject should be frozen by the flash.  It makes for some cool shots if you can master it. Takes a little practice.  Some day I'll have to hook up with yall and bring my photo gear.  I can't skate anyway.. I can at least be a human tripod.
Title: Re: Old School Nights
Post by: big rick on February 25, 2009, 09:45:26 PM
thanks snapper head... i have been trying to figure this thing out for the past few weeks...

i will start shootin @F200 and increase the ISO from 400 to 800 or 1000

i am also shooting in camera raw so that means slower reaction time.... but thats an easy fix

i think that NJ and rooster are going on a date friday

try to join them

Tilestud--I heard about the "slam heard round Volusia" at Stonehedge's bowl contest from RC you took serious gas and shook the whole bowl and you cold hear a pin drop after it.....I heard it semi knocked you silly...tell us your version....

Basically,I hung up attempting a back smith grind around the corner at Mach 3,got spun around and landed on my head in the corner of the bowl...I was knocked out for few seconds..
When I came around,I remember thinking,"wow...that wasnt too bad...but I can't fucking speak...Oh shit  my fuckin shoulder hurts a bit ...but its probably just a flesh wound!"

So I sat down for 10 minutes, drank some water and then I got up and did my second contest run...(It happened on my first of 2 runs in a GFL contest)
I placed 10th in the over 40's division that day..(more than likely they gave me a simpathy vote)

Thats about it really,no biggie...

But I dont care to see it again or do it again for that matter..!
Thats why I take it easy these days.

I was talking about Big Rick for a bigger deck, like a much wider larger deck. Tileman you are a big guy but big rick is really big, he flattens hips at the park. But that boy can work the bowl, it really is amazing to see the big guy, but that ass crack is in violation.

Looking forward to skating with Big Rick sometime...Maybe next wednesday at CB for the Old Man army Sesh?

Yeah bring a 5 gallon tub of that it should do it!
That deep end drop might be a lil sketch for him right now, he's just starting to get comfy on the 6' drop in...if he padded up good maybe, but that sesction is intemidating as hell at first, my nose was pointing to the N Star.

That deep end drop is only sketchy when your trucks are  backwards!
With normal trucks it should be no prob..

I wasn't there for Tileman's slam but I heard all about it...apparently they had to replace some sheets on the bowl.  j/k

I skated once with Des when he was a bit tipsy (claimed he had drank a bottle of wine but being the good Irishman he is I imagine it was a few pints of Guiness) anyway, you knwo how he normally skates: smooth and fast.  Well he dropped in, sketched his way around the bowl, hit the wall in the deep end at CBSP and slid down frm the coping on his belly head first.  Luckily he didn't get injured so we laughed.  Moral of this story: don't skate and drink!

It was a bottle of wine.... and I fell head first to the flat but somehow landed on all my pads, elbows wrist guards ,knee pads and helmet (complete fluke)....I can still see it vividly now...Just another flesh wound! Fuck me that was bad..Moral of the story:dont drink the whole bottle of wine before you skate!
