Redfishin
« on: August 03, 2010, 09:45:55 AM »

So I'm trying to find the best spots in the area to fish.  I usually put into the river at Ramp Rd. and head down to around 9th St. and then work a bit north but haven't done very good in the area.  I'm just getting into flats fishing so if anybody has any suggestions on locations or maybe tips to make sure I'm fishing as effectively as possible I'd sure appreciate it.  Also wouldn't mind having anyone that wanted to come along if they like fishin flats cuz usually it's just me.  Throw up any ideas ya got.

I've seen an amazing amount of fish being caught lately(not by me).   Mostly small stuff though.

Actually ended up catchin a good sized one off the dock last night.  Kind of a fluke it almost seemed like haha cuz I don't think I tossed it but 15 ft. off my dock up under the neighbors, and I was only out there cuz I was bored, but whatever works I suppose.

There are reds all around the islands south of the Ramp Rd.  If you head out to where the 1000 island end behind 13th street and work the mangroves with live bait you will score some slot size reds.  If it is really glassy head all the way to the south end of the islands. where if you were to keep following the shoreline of the islands around, it will take you back towards the golf course.  Once you get to the end head due south and you will eventually run over a sand bar that runs east to west.  There are always BIG reds roaming around out there this time of year.  They are just hard to find because of the water depth.

That area you mentioned Walker, I SUP back there on occasion with one of my buddies and we saw this huge school of them...I was wishing we had some fishing gear cuz it seemed like it would have been easy picking.
