Car camping stuff.

Wife gives the go ahead to get a new tent for the fam for Christmas so I take a trip to sears to see what they have. Low and behold they only had one tent in stock.

The Taj Majal of tents?

It's probabaly gonna suck to set up but the flat screen tv will fit nice. :P

I envy you guys that get out there and camp in the woods.  I used to go when I was younger but with the little one only being 6 I find it hard to do.  Although she loves the idea of camping, we're going to give ti a whirl next Spring I think and see how it goes.

go Dan go!

Mid single digits to early teens are the best campers.
Infants OK; toddlers, not so much. ("Ahhh! Don't eat that!!!")
Teenagers?  Send them with somebody else's parents....

Picked up one of these yesterday with my Christmas money:

http://www.amazon.com/Deuter-Futura-32/dp/B004LZFJ6U

I wanted something that I could use as a daypack / overnight bag. My Osprey pack is just too damn big for day hikes. The pack worked really well on the trail, and after returning from my day hik, I checked to see if all my gear would fit for an overnight. Thankfully, it does, but it is a very tight squeeze. Looking forward to trying it out!

That's the plan for now...we'll see!

If this camping trip goes well (with the kiddo and all) I am hoping it will be the beginning of many more.

Most excellent camping experience at Anastasia!! Bring fishing poles there is a waterway you can wade between campsites and the dune line, redfish!

NOW HEAR THIS.....the smartest raccoons on the planet all live in this concentrated area. They can open 99% of today's coolers. I think a few have slim Jim's and can get your stereo too. One time three or four staged a fight while we watched the fight two crept in from the back and swiped our hotdog buns....luckily I noticed and ran them off. I swear they work in teams. Its unreal, the ranger will warn you when you check in. You have to be diligent.

That's awesome, I love the idea of racoons scheming like that "OK, you guys go pretend like you're fighting while me and Vinny sneak and and grab the buns!"

We are bringing fishing poles so hopefully we'll catch something.  The kiddo is really looking forward to it and the wife is looking forward to staying home without us...she said something about a huge bottle of Moscato.

Yeah we're really excited.  The little one got her sleeping bag out yesterday just to check it out.  She's checking her flashlight batteries and stuff.  It's gonna be fun.

I tried to get a spot at Sebastain Inlet but they didn't have an available spot on a Friday or Saturday night from now until the end of May!
