Why can't WE have a $600, 250mpg car in America?

I'd buy that thing in a second for $600.

me too! My guess would be the US oil industry is against it, unless they can charge $24.80 a gallon diesel to offset their margins. lol

Ah, you're just a couple zeros away from the 2013 Car of the Year;
a 90mpg (gas equivalent)
0-60 in 3.9 sec
4 seater
made in USA
zero emission
bomber.
What's a couple zeros anyway?
Nothing ain't worth nothin', but it's free.  ;D

(I'm waiting for the wagon version....)

Oh my!

Couple thing I love those dang Germans for:
1st, they give you the option of economy (TDI six speed baby!) or true supercar power (2000hp?).    ::)

Quote
Further, 170 h 2.5 liter in five-cylinder, 2000 hp 2.0 liter turbo-four and 140 hp 2.0 liter TDI turbodiesel-four will equipped by Front wheel Drive. The six-speed manual and six-speed automatic function are both available.

and 2nd, because they're next door and access to the CERN supercollider,
those crafty Germans have harnessed the power of the Higgs boson to
give you an option for an uber-gravity strapless surf rack!!!

I want mine like that!!!!!

;D ;D ;D

It's funny that the bus has a Marine Corps tag and stickers.
My undergrad buddy John's Dad was Marine Col. and had a bus.
We'd surf Dam Neck in VA Beach (undergrad at ODU) because John could get us in.
The guards apparently had to salute because the sticker on the bus indicated officer.
Pretty entertaining to a bunch of punk surfers.
 :P
What is it with Marines and VW's?
:)
Nice bus btw.

Good question, this guy used it to go to the beach (which some rust shows that). I just met the guy though. He about tore my hand off when he shook it. Dude has a real M16 hanging up in his garage. heh heh. The VW has a new motor / tranny / shocks / breaks. The body has 140k on it with a little rust in some spots but on the whole it looked OK from what I can tell. He is asking 8K...

$8K for a non camper Vanagon is waaaay too much.  For that price it should be a camper in good condition.
