Bucket List...
« on: June 11, 2012, 05:26:08 AM »

Or just stuff you want to do before you either die or are too old and feeble to enjoy.

I turned 40 this year and although I feel really good and healthy it does make me realize that life is moving very quickly...the last 20 or so years have flown by.  So I got thinking about things I would like to do in the next 20 years (or longer).  Some are rather selfish and some not so much.  Here's my partial list...

1. Surf a true left point break.  Doesn't have to be Peru or Bali, just a real, honest to goodness left point that reels for a couple hundred yards.

2. Visit a wildlife reserve in Africa.  Ever since I can remember I have always wanted to go and see large animals in Africa, living in their natural environment.

3. Visit Yosemite National Park.  One of my biggest regrets was not getting there while I was in CA.  I was close enough to do it for a weekend but never did.

4. Get a nice tube on the OBX.

5. Get a good recording of my father playing piano.  He has played his whole life, never learned to properly play and can't read sheet music but he plays beautifully.  He's 86 and losing his sight and I'd love to get a good recording of him before it's too late.

6. Watch my daughter achieve her dreams and be happy as an adult.

Anyway, just felt like blabbing a little this morning.  Feel free to share some of yours if you want.

Three mop buckets, one soap, two rince.
One with a cracked bottom I use to carry fertilizer / manure around.
One for washing cars or catching antifreeze.
I think that's it.

would love to assist with

"5. Get a good recording of my father playing piano."

...so as long as he plays me something I could sample! :)

I was told foreigners arent allowed to partake in the smokefest in amsterdam anymore.... so the only other reason to go would be for hookers and canals.

That would be rad JT.  Maybe we can do it...problem is my pops has good days and bad days and he never knows until he gets up in the morning so planning to do stuff with him is tough.

Chris, I spent a weekend in Monterey and did the drive through Pebble Beach it is stunningly beautiful.  I could only imagine what a round of golf costs there!

Was thinking about your post last night
and remembering the movie.
Had Jack Nicholson in it right?
Anyway, prone to overthinking and I remember thinking,

"What happens if you get to the end of the list and you're still alive?"
"Should you get almost the end?  Or is it better to finish it up?  What do you do then?"
"Would it be cheating to add to the list, or subtract from it?"

It's so complicated.
I stick with the manure bucket.

Anyway, keep us posted on the recording?
I'd love to hear how that comes out.
Home recording with a decent mike and laptop?
Studio with the real deal?
Pretty cool!

Yeah, Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman, it was a neat movie.

I was thinking a home recording but honestly I didn't even think about it beyond that...I wouldn't even know what equipment to use.  I really want to preserve his music for my daughter and other grandkids (he has over 38 all in all...yes I have a HUGE family).

I always wanted to get some of his stories recorded too.  He was on Iwo Jima in 1945 and was a stone's throw away from the guys who raised the flag.  He has some great war stories that I think would be great to preserve.

I have yet to surf around the super bank. I think I need to do that.

One thing I can scratch off my list. Surf against Kelly Slater and David Speir. On bodyboards.  :P

On a side note...The E.S.A. used to be so fun. Everyone just entered goofy events just to surf and get a trophy. Now it is so small.  :'(

Checked Off Baby!

1.  Return library books.
2.  Fix shower faucet leak, hot side.
3.  Change oil in Mrs. 9's car.

And that was just this past weekend,
wait and see what's coming up next!
