American Top Team Space Coast
« on: August 19, 2014, 10:36:48 AM »

Is openinig a new facility in downtown Cocoa Beach.  Owner is a super cool guy and has a very relaxed and down to earth approach to Jiu Jitsu.

I only started training with him a few weeks ago but my daughter has been training with him for a few months.

If you are local and ever considered it I would urge you to check it out.  It is located next to A1A signs and I believe the plan is to be open next week.

Walker?   :)

maybe I'm just homophobic but no BJJ for me,
I won't even go to that big superdiscount place...

Kidding!  Only Kidding!!!  Don't beat me up!

Martial arts of any flavor are an excellent way to keep loose, fit and a sharp edge.
I prefer the upright versions, less practical in a real fight but hey,
I'm just there for the funny uniform and counting in Japanese
ich! ni! san! shi!

BJJ is awesome!
It's much more practical in real life if you
really think about it. someone comes towards
you, tie them up and choke them out.

and if you can do a key lock on them and put
them in an arm bar, they'll think twice about
trying that shit again.

the muay thai training, i'm not too keen on.
something about being punched in the face
that makes my eyes turn red and the rage
meter spike that i don't really like.

just add more of a down point to my tits
and smooth out that stomach but make it
a belly and it's legit

^^That's awesome!

I started doing the BJJ stuff just to have fun, exercize and I figured I'm there anyway with my daughter.  It's a blast though....tons of fun, reminds me of wrestling with my brothers when we were kids.

BJJ was so helpful when i was bouncing
but i've had it be useful outside of work
too after i stopped working at nights

i've been witness to some dude laying his
hands on a woman in an inappropriate
manner and have subdued an individual
quick and just waited for the police to get
there

no marks, no bruises, no proof.

it's actually illegal to use 'deadly force' like
that outside of a situation where someone
is using equal force.

so i just say, i did a karate chop to his shoulder
and he fell to the ground.

:D

Been having some rad BJJ training sessions lately.

Thursday evenings are Muay Thai....if someone knows how to get a hold of Eric G let him know....I know he digs that stuff.

Yeah he was a good fighter, not sure if he's still doing it or not.

We have a big, skilled guy that come to our gym.  He's tough and very hard to get an edge on.  I am always bruised after training with him.

Yeah we have all the body armor, gloves, shin pads, head gear, etc.  We don't go full on though...striking probably only like 25%.

Is it ALL self defense stuff? or do you guys have routines too? I envision you guys constantly sparring or something for some reason.
